PROFESSIONAL
BACKGROUND
Mark Butz is
an environmental science graduate (Macquarie University).
His skills, knowledge and
perspectives have been shaped by more than 40 years of practical
experience, including:
- more
than 26 years in senior public service positions in State,
Territory and Australian government agencies,
within environment &
heritage, and health portfolios
- more
than 35 years of active participation in the community sector
(health, community development,
landcare, environment education and
peace education; governance and practical levels); and
- a
diverse range of engagements as a consultant, facilitator, trainer
and writer
since 2002
Mark
has become an
accomplished facilitator of stakeholder and community
participation and engagement.
He holds a Graduate Diploma of Facilitative Leadership
(10444NAT).
He has particular expertise in the emerging field of cultural
translation – bridging gaps of communication and
understanding
between participants from different political, administrative,
technical, scientific and community spheres.
His extensive experience is also applied to training others in
skills for facilitation, communication,
participatory leadership,
influencing and negotiating.
He holds a Certificate IV in
Training and Assessment (TAE40110).
He is an
experienced writer, editor and proof reader of
scientific/technical, historical/biographical,
geographical, and
educational materials.
